About
La Traversée is the realisation of a long-held dream to make a wine that honestly reflects the quality of the soils of the Terrasses de Larzac, where it is made.
Four individual parcels of vines, comprising Cinsault, Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, are cultivated organically on geologically distinct terroir (slate, grés, volcanic and chalk).
This diversity of terroir and the individuality of the grape varieties helps us to achieve harmony and elegance. Each variety is vinified separately, with no added yeasts, in concrete egg-shaped tanks, 'tronconique' French oak and oval foudre.
We believe that the form and material of the fermentation and ageing vessel is essential to overall quality and expression in the finished wine. Our wish is to capture the purity, complexity and character that the best vineyards of this wonderful region promise.
